Introduction:
According to the 2022 Humanitarian Needs Overview (HNO), economic decline is now a major driver of needs in areas historically less directly affected by hostilities and displacement. More than three-quarters of households, 76%, were unable to meet their basic needs in 2021, an increase of 10% from 2020, and seven out of ten households report that their debt burden is increasing.
Early recovery and livelihood need continue to rise. Expectations of a further increase in the cost of living, including aid cuts and price increases in general, as well as exchange rate volatility, among others, are projections that point to a further deterioration in terms of real income and purchasing power in all population groups.
Humanitarian Development Aid Organization works to enable Syrian families in northwestern Syria to restore their economic health by providing support in various forms, so that families can achieve self-sufficiency and dispense with aid.
How do we achieve sustainable benefits?
It was said in the past: Do not give me a fish, but rather teach me how to fish, and it was mentioned in the stories of the Companions on the authority of Abd al-Rahman bin Auf his famous word: “Guide me to the market.” Based on these recommendations, we are working to implement aid in more sustainable ways by giving experienced people the necessary tools to re-launch their projects and to enhance their economic capabilities, as well as to train and rehabilitate the vulnerable to access job opportunities that guarantee them a decent life.
Limited interventions lead to permanent and more stable results.
Implementation:
Huda Charity is working on conducting a market assessment to study the feasibility of establishing projects that achieve additional value for the market and do not harm anyone, then it works to attract experienced people from the displaced families and the most vulnerable families to study their projects and help them re-launch them by providing the necessary tools, including projects, for example: Sewing workshops, tools for professionals (electrical and sanitary installations), maintenance workshop tools, etc.
In another context, it also works to enable the injured women without a breadwinner to have professions that preserve dignity and enable them to work in their homes or fields that suit them, such as training in design and montage programs, or accounting programs, etc. so that after graduating from training, they can obtain a sustainable job opportunity.
Huda is also working on applying the system of good loans (without interest) for some families who can develop their businesses and pay the amounts without affecting the minimum standard of living, and this achieves a sustainable benefit for others.
Performance Monitoring and Evaluation:
Huda Charity works to conduct a study and evaluation of the market and the experiences and studies of projects submitted by the beneficiaries and follows up on their implementation of projects by securing tools in batches, and also makes sure that people are able to access the labor markets properly.
Impact:
Having a stable income based on a person’s capabilities and experiences provides him with a high psychological stability that reflects on his quality of life, in addition to the availability of financial gains from work that cover his needs and do not keep him at the mercy of the specter of aid.
